MASERU – The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA)’s national executive committee (NEC) has tasked the body’s technical director Leslie Notsi to continue serving as Likuena’s caretaker coach until a substantive coach has been appointed.

Notsi guided Likuena to back to back victories over South Africa's Bafana Bafana at the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers whose finals will be staged in Ethiopia next year. In a media statement released this week, the association's NEC states that it has tasked Notsi to continue being in charge of the senior national team, in respect of the upcoming 2022 FIFA World cup preliminary round qualifier against Ethiopia.

“This is while the Association searches for the ideal candidate locally and internationally to take over the reins on a full-time basis,” the statement shows.  It states that within the short time that Notsi has been in charge of the team, he managed to bring stability into the squad setup and helped the side secure historic back-to-back victories over Bafana Bafana.

LeFA’s communications officer Mikia Kalati could not be drawn to explain whether or not there were already any applications submitted for the head coach position.  LeFA initially appointed Notsi as an interim coach for the CHAN qualifiers against South Africa while the head coach Moses Maliehe was on sick leave.
