Maseru (TMGLive) - Congolese attacker, Nzenze Nkulu has hit the exit door of Sea Point-based outfit Matlama following the disagreement with the team over his personal terms. The speedy player joined Matlama last year from local club, FC Linare (on loan from Bantu) and formed part of the most decorated soccer team in Lesotho for about three seasons.

In an interview with Maseru Metro this week, Matlama Communication and Marketing Manager (CMM), Tankiso Moletsane said he is not in a position to confirm the departure of Nkulu. But what the CMM could say is that negotiations concerning the renewal of his contract were still ongoing between the player and management of the team.

“I am not sure whether I can confirm that the player is leaving the team. What I can tell you is that the management team is still holding talks with the player regarding the renewal of his contract. Matlama still values Nkulu a lot and he is needed for sure by our new coach.

“The only thing is that both parties have to understand each other and agree on the terms of the contract. We have dealt with a similar situation to this one of Nkulu before, and I trust that the team management will finalise this one without any difficulty,” Moletsane said.

The CMM further said he applauds the management of the team for the success on the renewal of contracts of the two Ghanaians ‑ Michael Mureku and Partrick Nyanko.

There was a rumour doing the rounds that both defenders were on the edge of jumping ship after their contracts came to an end at the end of last season, 2017/2018.

“Matlama is a big football brand and I want to tell you that so many good and bad things do happen to big clubs like this one. However, problems come and pass. I want to congratulate the management for their success in making sure that Mureku and Nyanko sign new contracts.”

For his part, Nkulu confirmed that he is leaving the Sea Point team. He said Matlama failed to agree on his personal terms and as such, he has decided to call it quits. Nkulu said he has been with Matlama for ages and he felt it was high time he sees improvement on his contract. He however refused to be tracked into disclosing what his personal terms were.

“Yes, I am no longer a member of the Matlama team. We parted ways with the team on Tuesday this week. I am now focusing on finding a new club. We had negotiations with them concerning the new contract, but unfortunately we could not reach an agreement; hence, why I am leaving.

“I am ready to join any team now as I am a free agent. I guess my agent is working hard to find me a new club and I will soon start training with them before the start of the 2018/2019 season,” Nkulu said.

Two Premier League giants, Liphakoe and Kick4Life FC are said to have undying interest to rope in Nkulu and they have watched his contractual issue closely. It has also been said that the player’s former mentor at Sandawana FC, Bob Mafoso, has love and admiration of the player and he will definitely be happy to work with him at Kick4Life.
