Top Lesotho referee Souru Phatšoane is expected to officiate the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions league quarterfinal second leg tie between Wydad Casablanca and Algiers in Casablanca, Morocco on Saturday.

Phatšoane was recently listed among referees who will be in charge at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics Games, making him the first Mosotho football referee to officiate at the multi-sport global event.
He previously officiated the CAF Super Cup match featuring champions Esperance of Tunisia and Egypt's Confederation Cup title holders, Zamalek.
The continental showpiece was played in Qatar, in the Middle East, where the 2022 World Cup will also be held.
Referees’ Coordinator, Mohau Sentšo described Phatšoane's appointment as a clear signal that the standard of the refereeing in Lesotho is on the right track, in par with other countries across the world.

“He is not officiating domestic league games only but he also goes international,” he said.

Sentšo further described Phatšoane as a trendsetter in Lesotho football, adding that his achievements motivate upcoming match officials who look up to him.

He said Phatšoane's past performances at international stage clearly impressed CAF, hence the new assignment.
“This is not his first major CAF assignment at the World stage after he officiated at the Under 17 World Cup in Brazil last year.
“He was also one of the match officials who officiated the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Egypt, last year.
Phatšoane will officiate alongside other match officials from Japan, France, Germany, Romania, Spain, New Zealand, Egypt, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Australia, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Argentina, Brazil and Honduras as well as Mexico.
