MASERU - The Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) and all Econet premier league clubs have reached a collective decision to declare the Econet premier league complete from where the matches stopped.

This shared decision was reached during a meeting held by both parties on Thursday.

PLMC publicist Moeketsi Ramakatsa told Metro that the decision was arrived at after most of the participants agreed that the league must be declared complete.

He said the meeting also agreed that no clubs would be relegated from the Econet premier league during the 2019/2020 season.

“This means that Bantu FC being the current number one on the log will be crowned champions of the Econet premier league 2019/2020. But this will be implemented after discussions with the Lesotho Football Association (LEFA) and the league sponsor,” Ramakatsa said.

He further showed that as per the meeting’s resolutions, two teams will be promoted from the A-Division without relegating any from the premier league.

“This means we will have a total of 16 teams in the premier league in the next season,” he also said.

For international campaigns, Ramakatsa said the clubs agreed that the first team on the log will represent the country in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champion’s League.

“The resolutions were made because premier league clubs and the PLMC realised that it would be costly to complete the remaining league matches while also abiding by covid-19 rules and regulations,” he said.

He, however, showed that the PLMC and the clubs are yet to meet on Wednesday to finalise the discussions.
