MASERU – The local Econet Rugby League roared into life last weekend and saw Giants pegged on top of the log table after the first matches.

The league is sponsored to the tune of M100 000 by Econet Lesotho for the 2020/21 season.

The first matches saw Giants collect 5 points after demolishing new comers, Roma Kings 41 – 3.

Maseru Warriors bagged 4 points to land on second position by trashing Mabote Divas 16 - 9, while Spears are on 3rd position with 4 points as well after walloping LDF’s Liqhomane 6 - 3.

Federation of Lesotho Rugby (FLR) spokesperson, Morapeli Motaung, said the league management was impressed with the pace with which the league started.

He further said the federation will, this season, award M2 000 to the team that will occupy the 1st position at the end of 1st round as a form of motivation.
