LESOTHO icon Lehlohonolo Seema has been tipped to take over the vacant Golden Arrows coaching job following the shocking departure of Mandla Ncikazi, who led the club to their highest finish in their history of South African top-flight football.

Seema will have big shoes to fill after 52-year-old Ncikazi led Arrows to a fourth-place finishing in the recently ended 2020/21 DSTV Premiership.

Several South African publications reported that Arrows have identified Seema as the replacement for Ncikazi, who has since joined Orlando Pirates as the assistant head coach.

The former Lesotho international has had a hectic year in the South African Premiership since leaving Bloemfontein Celtic, where he was co-coach with John Maduka.

Seema is currently on a second spell in charge of Chippa United having re-joined the club after parting ways with relegated Black Leopards earlier.

He is currently overseeing the Chilli Boys in their fight for their top-flight status in the ongoing PSL promotion/relegation playoffs.

They started the playoffs with a 2-1 victory over Richards Bay on Monday as they vie to retain their top-flight status.

Sources close to the former Likuena captain confirmed that his switch to Arrows is as good as done, but the deal will only be announced once Seema has completed his mission with Chippa United in the ongoing playoffs.

“He is on his way to Arrows, but obviously the deal cannot be announced now as he was already back at Chippa and is in charge of the team in the ongoing promotion/relegation play-offs,” the source said

“His focus is on helping Chippa retain their top-flight status, but the switch to Arrows is imminent.”

Before moving into coaching, Seema enjoyed an illustrious career in South Africa having a long career at Bloemfontein Celtic and captaining the club for many years.

He later left Celtic for greener pastures, joining Soweto giants-Orlando Pirates, where he was also rewarded with the skipper’s armband.

The former Bantu utility player later joined Mpumalanga Black Aces, but announced his retirement from the game before playing a competitive match for the club following a struggle with injuries.
