PLANS are underway for a major facelift of the Setsoto stadium in preparation for the 2021 African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 under 20 Games scheduled for December.

The games were initially set for December last year but were postponed due to the rampant coronavirus, which has engulfed the entire world.

The Chief Information Officer of the Ministry of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation, Maqalika Matsepe said a total of M250 Million has been budgeted for the refurbishment project.

He was quick to show that the project is expected to be completed by October, three months before the games.

The renovation, Matsepe said will include among others, removing the old artificial turf and replacing it with natural turf in order to allow other sporting activities such as field events to be played in the facility.

Minister of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation Likeleli Tampane once toured the facility and discovered that its condition had deteriorated substantially. LeNA
