A member of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) was yesterday allegedly assaulted to death during a scuffle over his stolen sheep in Masaleng, Bobete in the Thaba-Tseka district.

According to a statement issued by the LDF public affairs office, preliminary reports allege that the deceased was assaulted with fighting sticks and home-made swords by men who he suspected to have stolen his sheep three months ago. The incident follows another one that occurred about a month ago in which another soldier was allegedly stabbed to death with a knife in Ha Maja on the outskirts of Maseru.
