“The nation sympathised with us and indeed the four parties became government – led by Prime Minister Motsoahae Thabane. “We then applauded them for solving the mystery of our son’s disappearance after assuming power during the snap elections of June 3, 2017,” said Thabiso Khetheng, the father of the deceased.

He continued: “The government has since forgotten about us and no one makes visits or phone calls anymore. We see no progress of the case in court. “The same government we casted votes for, with hope for justice, has now cobbled a deal with the opposition parties for the reforms process, which would dissolve the case.

“The agreement indicates that lawsuits against criminal exiled suspects will be suspended so that they participate in the reforms, and we strongly oppose that.” Khetheng’s father added that the reforms process should be separated from criminal cases and only the  courts of law should have the power to suspend cases. Police Constable Khetheng was last seen being arrested by his colleagues at a traditional feast in Sobothoane, Leribe on March 26, 2016.

His body was later exhumed at Lepereng Cemetery in Maseru district on August 11, 2017 after the police were granted a court order in light with ongoing investigations into his disappearance and suspected murder. Senior Inspector Mabitle Matona, Senior InspectorThabo Tšukulu, Sub Inspector Haleokoe Taasoana and Inspector Mothibe Mofolo were among the suspects for his murder including Lesotho Congress for Democracy deputy leader, Tšeliso Mokhosi, who was the then Minister of Defence. “We shall not rest in pursuit of justice,” Thabiso added.
