The Lesotho Football Aasociation has anounced a provisional list of 23 players for the 2019 Cosafa Cup.
The Cosafa Cup will be staged in the South African coastal city of Durban from May 25 to June 8, providing regional national teams to go for glory and claim dominance on this prestigious Southern African championship.
Dropped from the Likuena squad is Lioli defender, Mafa Moremoholo, who has been a regular feature in the team in both regional and international games – while also commanding a stabilibilising position in his team Lioli.
Likuena starts the tournamet with a quarterfinal clash against its hoodo team Uganda on June 1 at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
Lesotho made the final of the Cosafa Cup in 2000, but lost both legs of the decider 3-0 to Zimbabwe to go down 6-0 on aggregate; making this the team’s only Final appearance to date.
Despite its non-impressive showing in Cosafa’s history in general, Likuena has thus far kept Tlali Maile in the list of best marksmen in the championship, netting five goals overall.
Maile shone in the 2013 Cosafa Cup with four goals and got another in 2015 as he showed his prowess in the box.
