The Minister of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation Dr. Mahali Phamotse says partnership with International Youth Fellowship (IYF) is helping the department of youth to achieve the goal of promoting the dignity and self-esteem of all Basotho youth. Speaking at the signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ministry and IYF in Maseru on Monday, Dr Phamotse said the MoU would strengthen partnership between the Ministry and IYF, and would therefore assist in developing the youth of Lesotho as well as ensuring that they accept things they cannot change.

She said: “We are determined to work towards instilling patriotism in these youth so that they can have hope, dreams and faith to build a better Lesotho. Through this initiative, we will assist youth to overcome depression as we will give them hope that they can do more to improve their lives.” Dr Phamotse said by working together with IYF, they intended to establish youth centre through which the youth of Lesotho would be empowered by being socially, politically and economically developed. Speaking at the same event, IYF Country Director In Ki Hong said they were working hard to ensure that the youth of Lesotho overcome challenges that they come across, that include unemployment. “To develop their lives, it is vital for them to put trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. They should always be thankful and proud that they were born in this country. The future of Lesotho is great, therefore, youth should always seek guidance from God in whatever they engage in. We intend to visit hard to reach areas of Lesotho in order to interact and give hope to all the youth,” said Ki Hong.
