Easter Road Safety Campaign

As part of the Free State province’s Easter Road Safety Campaign, Hon. Jabu Mbalula who is a Member of the Executive Council responsible for Community Safety, Roads and Transport, led a successful major roadblock operation on the N8 corridor between Ladybrand and the Maseru Border, Lesotho.

The operation focused on promoting road safety, strengthening border security, preventing stock theft, and ensuring compliance during the busy Easter travel period.

Operation statistics for 02 April 2026:

• Cases registered: 41

• Vehicles stopped and inspected: 150

• Undocumented persons arrested: 2

• Minibus impounded: 1

• Stock theft arrests: 3

The operation was attended and supported by key stakeholders, including South African National Defence Force, South African Police Service, law enforcement, Assupol, veterinary services monitoring foot-and-mouth disease compliance, Border Management Authority, and the SAPS Stock Theft Unit.
