Story highlights
With two Compactor Trucks expected to be delivered next week, the Mayor of Mantsopa, Mamsie Tsoene has urged employees in the municipality to take good care of the new equipment.
The vehicles, she said are only supposed to be used for service delivery purposes.
“These are tools of the trade belonging to the people of Mantsopa and are meant to deliver services to them,” said Councilor Tsoene who is expected to embark on a Municipal Service Delivery Tour from September 13, across all towns.
This lady, who is looking forward to getting her hands dirty, explained that the envisaged tour is aimed at taking the services to the communities.
“I am glad that two-thirds of the yellow fleet that we bought has already arrived and we can now go to the people. It is going to be business unusual. The arrival of this equipment will help us unlock the outstanding challenges that impacted negatively on service delivery in the past,” the Mayor noted.
The tour, she said will commence on September 13, 2021, adding that they will spend the whole week concentrating on the Greater Ladybrand.
“It’s a good thing that we are buying our own yellow fleet. In the past, we were unable to work efficiently as we had to rely on hiring the equipment from services providers. This is a new era of service delivery as we will also be able to use money to pay for other services,” she said.

To date, the municipality has bought yellow plant equipment including an Industrial Sewer Jet, Honey-Sucker truck, Water Tanker, two vans and a cherry picker and road patching equipment.
The two refuse trucks will largely help get rid of the widespread illegal dumping in the area.
The Mayor thanked the Acting Municipal Manager, Motsilisi Lesoetsa and the Acting CFO, Kgotso Pharoe for being there when they were urgently needed.
"I truly honour the entire team whose dream is to see a better Mantsopa. I will end my five-year term on a high note and I am assured that my successor will confidently carry the baton going forward. Kea leboha," she also said.
