Tsatsanyane’s bodyguard shot dead
MP for Stadium Area Mokherane Tsatsanyane
A neighbour said ex-PC Monaheng Monyaka, 39, who had just arrived home was parking his vehicle in front of the house when strange gunmen pounced on him.
“As he got out of the car, there were gunshots all over and he ran towards my house, calling my husband for help, but my husband was not home.
“When my son opened the front door, he saw two men chasing the deceased,” the woman said, adding that Monyaka was shot as he tried to escape.
The woman who talked on condition of anonymity for her safety said one of the bullets that hit Monyaka in the back went through his chest.
She said the gunmen disappeared into the night after the firing had stopped.
“Ntate Monyaka ran and tried to hide behind my house but could not stand properly. My son ran to him and attempted to help him but it was already too late,” she said.
Monyaka's nephew said earlier this year, an unknown person entered his uncle’s home and tried to poison him.

“Someone poisoned his food but he discovered the poison,” the nephew who is in his 20’s said, adding that the family does not understood why anyone would want his uncle dead.
Police spokesperson Sub-Inspector ’Mareabetsoe Mofoka confirmed the killing, saying investigations were continuing.
During his time as a policeman, Monyaka was attached to the Special Operations Unit (SOU).
After he quit the police service, he joined SBV Security. But he later left the security outfit to head Mr Tsatsanyane’s security detail.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
