MOHALE’S HOEK - IN an effort to gather further evidence in the alleged rape of a 10-year-old girl with a speech impairment, the prosecution plans to revisit the crime scene in Mpharane today, (onTuesday).

This visit aims to help refresh the victim's memory and provide a clearer understanding of the events that transpired.

The decision was made by Magistrate ’Marethabile Rantja after the victim, who also has a mild mental disability, identified the suspect and re-enacted the incident in court using a male doll.

The accused, 40-year-old Richard Mahloko, was previously released on M800 bail with an additional M5000 surety, under the condition that he relocate to another village.

This condition was set following a plea from the victim's mother, who expressed concerns for her daughter's safety, stating that the girl would not feel safe playing with other children if Mahloko returned to their village. - LeNA
