THE three high profile cases against the soldiers who are among others accused of the 2014 murder of Police Sub-Inspector Mokheseng Ramahloko will finally continue after their hearing dates are set on Monday.

All the trials which are before Acting High Court judge, Dr Onkemetse Tshosa had not been proceeding for a while due to a number of reasons.

These are some of the high profile cases which attracted both national and international attention as they resulted from political unrests that prevailed in the country a few years ago.
One of the cases involves prominent politicians who are to be joined as co-accused to the soldiers charged with, among others, the murder of Sub-Inspector Ramahloko at the police headquarters on August 30, 2014.

Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD)’s leader, Mothetjoa Metsing and his Movement for Economic Change (MEC) counterpart, Selibe Mochoboroane, have unsuccessfully been trying to secure immunity from prosecution and challenging their joinder.

In another case, the soldiers are accused of strangling to death Lekhoele Noko, Khothatso Makibinyane and Molise Pakela at the military camp in Setibing, Maseru on May 16, 2017.

They are alleged to have later dumped the deceased's bodies in the Mohale Dam.

They also face the murder of Thabang Mosole, Monyane Matsie and Pakiso ‘Ntala’ Letatabe in Ha Motanyane, Mafeteng on April 7, 2012. Metro/LeNA
