Police Spokesperson Senior Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli has confirmed that the woman whose name has been withheld was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Queen ’Mamohato Memorial Hospital later that night.
Mopeli said no arrests have yet been made in connection with the shooting.
Sources close to the matter claim that unidentified men who were wearing blue jackets were seen firing shots from outside the Mejametalana conference hall in Mazenod, where the assembly was held.
The sources believe that the shooting was random, adding that the woman might have been hit by a stray bullet fired from outside the building.
