LESOTHO is a uniquely beautiful country full of breath-taking tourist attractions of various, among them are amazingly breath-taking sand dunes located on the plateau of Ha Shepeseli, Leribe.

This makes the place a haven of beautiful sights worth capturing, while enjoying the adventures that come with it, says Lefa Lebitsa from the Lesotho Travel and Tour Guide.

He describes sand dunes as possibly some of the most refreshing and exciting features that Mother Nature has to offer.

The stunning scenery and their beauty, he says make it hard to believe that the dunes are merely formed from sand built by either wind or water flow.

Lebitsa says as people make plans to travel for future adventures, they should not look too far as the Ha Shepeseli sand dunes offer the best possible adventure. “The sand dune adventures offer a lot of exciting activities including exclusive cultural quad biking, sand volleyball and football along with treasure hunt games. This is experience like no other, and the biggest ‘must do’ experience on the biggest sand dunes in Leribe.”

Lebitsa says the dunes are constantly transformed by unrelenting winds, making it an impressive tourist attraction worth checking out.

“This is treasure that you never knew existed in the Mountain Kingdom, the sand dunes lie on top of the Ha Shepeseli Plateau.

“The majestic landmark is fine sand similar to that of a desert. The area is accessible on a horseback, but hiking to the spot is the best option,” he says.

He admits that the sand dunes are some of the lesser known tourist attractions in Lesotho.

He adds that although they may not be able to compete with the likes of the deserts, they however, share similar traits, making them the next best things travellers can enjoy in the country.

He says the dunes are pretty impressive and one would have more than enough fun exploring them.

“In fact, they are as good as one can hope to see in any other parts of the world.”

Lebitsa further states that the place has not always been regarded as a tourist attraction until quite recently.

“For many years, the site was considered as nothing but a dusty place, however, when sand dunes found their way in the tourism sector, people started taking interest and making trips to see them. It did not take long for news of their beauty to spread across the country.

“Today the place is visited by a lot of people whenever possible.”

A dune is a landform composed of wind or water-driven sand, typically taking the form of a mound, ridge or a hill.
