Lesotho actress joins Generations: The Legacy

Local actress, ’Mannini Mokhothu has secured a casting role in South Africa's popular TV series – Generations - The Legacy.

"’Mannini Mokhothu is Lesotho actress who has been cast as Nurse Lindiwe and her debut will be on July 2, 2021. Watch Generations: The Legacy at 8pm, on SABC 1 every week," Mehlakeng Actors and Performers Agency (MAPA) announced on Friday.

Generations: The Legacy a SA soap opera is the remake of the soap opera, Generations but with more and different characters, different settings and different tones. 

It is the second most watched television show in that neighbouring country.

Mokhothu who is from Semonkong on the outskirts of Maseru studied at the University of Cape Town in 2006, before moving to London, England in 2016, where she studied MA Screen Acting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
Another actress under the MAPA stable that Mokhothu joined is Lebohang Monyatsi who is also playing in Generations.

 "I am playing the character of Rosie on Generations - The Legacy. Dreams of a black disabled actress coming true," Monyatsi said on her Facebook page, also posting her pictures from some of the drama scenes.
Another actress from Lesotho, who has made a breakthrough into the lucrative South African film industry, is Liteboho Molise.
The actress who currently lives in Johannesburg plays Teboho on Muvhango - the SABC2 soap opera. Teboho is the wife of Venda chief, Mulalo Mukwevho, played by Sydney Ramakuwela.
Her character on Muvhango is probably one of the most-loved villains on the show.
The 31-year-old actress, who studied political science at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) was born and raised in Butha-Buthe.

She was scouted by Dingaan Khumalo, who plays James Motsamai on the show.
Liteboho first auditioned for the role of Carol Chabedi during the Muvhango audition in 2011 but did not succeed. She later landed the role of Teboho in 2012. She is also featured in SABC2 sitcom, Skwizas.
Another home-brewed legendary actor is Silas Taunyane Monyatsi who hails from Thaba-Bosiu, Maseru but grew up in Koalabata, Berea.

He currently plays as Bra Mike in the Mzansi Magic’s drama series, Gomora.
Gomora is SA television drama series produced by Seriti films. It is an M-Net original production commissioned for M-Net’s local interest channel Mzansi Magic.
Monyatsi, who studied acting in 1996, did professional theatre stage and then went on to the screen where he was featured in Tholoana tsa Sethepu.
