FORMER Bantu defender Tsietsi Khooa has parted ways with South African DSTV Premiership side Chippa United, just five months after signing with the club.

Khooa’s departure at the Chilli follows that of Likuena legend Lehlohonolo Seema, who was fired as the coach of the club in December, but has since bounced back and is now in charge of Black Leopards.

Seema had signed both Khooa and Maloisane Ramasimong during his time in charge of the Chilli Boys.

According to media reports in South Africa, the new Chippa coach Dan Malesela made it clear that Khooa was not in his plans.

This led to the two parties agreeing to terminate the two-year contract signed at the start of the 2020/2021 season.

Khooa’s agent Lehlohonolo Phume confirmed the development to Metro, saying that his client will soon be looking for a new home.

“Yes, Khooa has left Chippa. For now, we are still looking at other teams or employment for the player. He had signed a two-year-contract with the club with an option to renew for one-year. The boy is fine and has accepted that things didn’t work out at Chippa,” he said.

Phume said Leopards, where Seema is now in charge is an option, though the club hasn’t made contact with them as yet.

“We cannot rule out the reunion with Coach Seema at Leopards, but it depends on whether or not Leopards want the player. So, yes, it’s one of the options available to us should the club show interest in his services.

Dismissing the player’s possible return to Lesotho, Phume said: “For now, our eyes are on the GladAfrica Championship and DSTV Premiership.”
