A PROMINENT member of the District Football Association (DIFA) Maseru representing the Thetsane Region known as Region 2, Tšepiso Khali has resigned from office, citing family and work commitments.

Khali who left the association two weeks ago told Metro that he primarily wants to focus his attention on his family and full-time employment at the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA).

“My resignation should not be linked with anything other than what is stated in the letter,” he said.

DIFA Maseru publicist Thabiso Sekoetja has confirmed Khali’s resignation, saying the office received his resignation letter a fortnight ago.

“In his letter, he states that he is resigning in order to attend to his personal and family affairs. He left us at the time when he had just been co-opted by the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) to the B and C Divisions management committee.

“After he left, we put forward the name of Hloohlo Setsumi to fill Khali’s shoes in the committee and LeFA endorsed his name. For his part, Setsumi also did not hesitate to take the responsibility. We will approach Region 2 and let them suggest a person to fill Khali’s former post in the committee,” he said.

Sekoetja was quick to note that even though Khali has resigned, he however, promised that he will still support the committee and offer his assistance wherever it is needed.

Region 2 held elections on Saturday March 6 and Lekomola Litlatse was elected to fill Khali’s former position in the DIFA Maseru committee.

Khali joined DIFA Maseru in 2015 as a member after being co-opted by DIFA.

In 2016 during the DIFA Maseru elections, he was elected as Secretary and once again as a member in the 2020 elections.

He served DIFA Maseru with great diligence during the three terms he spent in the committee.

All the DIFAs including DIFA Maseru are yet to go for presidential elections later this year after they elected other committee members during last year elections as per the new LeFA administration structure.
