The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) and the Nedbank Lesotho have sealed a lucrative partnership that will see this financial institution injecting a total of M250,000 sponsorship that will see both parties into a three year marriage.

The sponsorship was signed by LeFA President Advocate Salemane Phafane KC and Nedbank Lesotho Managing Director Papa Sekyiamah at the official launch and draw of the A Division eight finals teams held at Bambatha Tsita Sports Arena on Wednesday.

Officiating at the ceremony Minister of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation Dr. Mahali Phamotse expressed her joy, saying she would not say much due to her excitement as she would be speaking from her heart.

However, she commented LeFA President for the good and hard work been done to attract sponsorship for the betterment of football in the country. “The sponsorship could not have come had it not been due to the hard work and something good they have seen,” she commented  The Minister also commented Nedbank for having agreed to the partnership and for the bank's Managing Director Papa Sekyiamah's words that he would consider sponsoring women's football in future.

Finance Minister Dr. Moeketsi Majoro who also witnessed the sponsorship unveiling congratulated both LeFA and Nedbank for the partnership, saying he was pleased to see the corporate world coming on board in sports. LeFA Supremo Adv. Phafane could not hide his excitement for having been associated with Nedbank for the next three years for the A Division championship.“I am proud to be associated with the giant financialinstitution like Nedbank,” he reiterated.

Adv. Phafane, however, said it has not been an easy task for both LeFA and Nedbank staff, saying there has been ups and downs as they wanted something special that would be an envy of other premier league clubs which he joked that they will be tempted to be demoted to play in the second tier A division than in the elite league. He also welcomed the idea for the sponsorship to also be extended to cover women's football, saying a lot of good things are on the cards between the association and Nedbank, promising the financial institution that it will never regret as the marriage is in good hands. Adv. Phafane promised good governance of the funds, accountability, discipline as well as quality football in order to appease the sponsorship.
