THE Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) will send a seven-man delegation to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games which kick off in Tokyo, Japan on July 28.

The global games which end on August 8 were postponed last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic that turned the whole world around by shutting down businesses through hard lockdowns.

Sports activities were also suspended when the entire world went into total lockdown in a bid to stop the spread of the deadly virus.

A media statement from LNOC shows that Lesotho will be represented by two marathoners, Khoarahlane Seutloali and his wife ’Neheng Khatala Seutloali.

Seutloali met the qualifying standard of 2:11:30, by clocking in 2:11:04 at the Cape Town Marathon in 2019 in the men's category.

Khatala Seutloali qualified for the global event earlier this year at Langa Marathon in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Seutloali’s are currently training together at the Setsoto stadium in preparation for the Olympic Games.

“The two-member athletic team has since been vaccinated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through the assistance of South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) with Johnson and Johnson vaccine on July 2,” the LNOC statement also shows.

The Lesotho delegation will comprise Team Coach, Chef de Mission, Team Doctor, COVID-19 Liaison Officer and Team Administrator.
Khatala will take on the field on August 7 at 5.15pm in the women's marathon while Seutloali will follow on August 8 at 4.45pm local time. LeNA
