He said most hotels and guest houses located in Maseru were fully booked for two days leading to the ceremony, resulting in a positive impact on their businesses since they were last shot down by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tšotetsi said the sector welcomed such big events, adding that they were hopeful the new administration led by Matekane’s Revolution for Prosperity (RFP) would give them `essential support to enable them to get back on their feet again.
“We hope that the festive season will attract more tourists into the country for the benefit of the sector, which suffered a major setback during the lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

Matekane was inaugurated last Friday at the Setsoto Stadium during a ceremony, which saw dignitaries from several African countries and other parts of the world converging to witness as he took an oath of office.
