Police are investigating a matter in which seven rounds of ammunition were found inside the shoes of one of the inmates at Mohale's Hoek correctional services on Monday last week. This surfaced during police weekly briefing held in Maseru on Monday whereby police spokesperson Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli highlighted that a 29 year-old man of Khoaba-lea-Bua had visited his sibling at the correctional service, adding that he had with him a pair of shoes which he claimed he had been asked to give to one of the inmates. The report states that when the shoes were inspected, seven rounds of ammunition of a .38 firearm were found placed in them. Superintendent Mopeli added that the man was therefore arrested for illegally being in possession of rounds of ammunition, adding that police investigations around the matter are ongoing to find the reasons why ammunition was brought to the correctional service. Meanwhile, sexual offense cases are still rife in the country although police have called on to members of the public to stop thus. Reading police reports, Superintendent Mopeli stated that police are in search of a Mosotho man who raped school children aged between nine and 10 years, following an incident that occurred at one of the schools in Berea on Monday last week. The report indicates that the suspect hid himself at the school toilets, whereby as the students came to the toilets, he pointed a gun at two girls, raped them and then fled the scene. On the other hand, a 44 year-old man of Mohale's Hoek allegedly raped his 10 year-old daughter several times since 2015. On April 11, he attempted to rape his daughter again, whereby a 68 year-old elderly man (father of the suspect) eavesdropped a quarrel between his son and grand-daughter, then spoke to elderly women in the village who intervened in the matter the next morning by questioning the girl. The man is reported to have fled, and police are in his search. Superintendent Mopeli therefore pleaded with the public who may know the whereabouts of the suspects to come forth so as to speed up the investigation. About 386 cases of sexual offense have been reported at different police stations throughout the country from January to March. Lena
