MASERU – The family of a 10-month baby who was abducted from her Teyateyaneng home in November last year received her at the Maseru Bridge on Monday.

Moeketsi and 'Makarabo Molebatsi were over the moon when they were finally reunited with their daughter Nomvula who was abducted by a Welkom woman under the pretense that she was helping the family.

The woman was traced to Welkom in the Free State and authorities in South Africa helped repatriate the stolen child.
Nomvula was handed over to the Minister of Social Development 'Matebatso Doti by the acting premier of the Free State who is also the Free State member of the executive council for social development, Mamiki Qabathe.
Speaking at the event, Doti said after she learned about the abduction, she pledged to work tirelessly to ensure that the child was found and reunited with her family.

She expressed her gratitude to the South African government for its assistance in the child’s repatriation, commending both countries’ police services for playing a vital role in the matter.

For her part, Qabathe said protocols signed by both Lesotho and South Africa show that the two countries largely benefit from their strong bilateral relations.

She said no so long ago, SA authorities returned to Lesotho about 26 children who had been illegally residing in that neighbouring country.
