MASERU – The government of the People's Republic of China has pledged its continued support to Lesotho in the fight against the Corona Virus (COVID-19).

In his remarks on Monday after the China-Africa Technical Exchange Video Conference on combating COVID-19, the Chinese ambassador in Lesotho, Lei Kezhong said their embassy in Maseru works tirelessly to have another consignment delivered to Lesotho in a bid to combat the pandemic.
Lei encouraged Basotho to be confident in winning the fight, urging them to be vigilant in preventing the virus from entering Lesotho borders.
The Deputy Minister of Health ’Manthabiseng Phohleli said as part of Lesotho's proactive measures in combating the pandemic, more doctors and nurses are being recruited throughout the country.

“We are also holding ongoing trainings which include programmes on case management,” she also said.
Phohleli said Lesotho is faced with a few challenges including inadequate Personal Protective Equipments (PPEs) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facility.
The Monday’s video conference is the first of a series of five which will be held between May 7 and June 8 on topics such as risk assessment, and clinical treatment.
A total of 21 African countries participated in the Monday video conference.
