NOTWITHSTANDING ongoing speculations to close the National University of Lesotho (NUL) due to high COVID-19 cases, the institution has however, announced its decision to resume classes.

According to the university Registrar, Liteboho Maqalika-Lerotholi, although they have the challenge of 1 700 students who have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, operations are continuing as usual.

She said first-year students have already started arriving for their orientations which began on Thursday.
Mrs Maqalika-Lerotholi said lessons which are expected to resume on September 20 for both first-year and returning students are anticipated to be conducted online due to the high spreading COVID-19 virus.

She however, noted that the university has done most of the application and admission processes for the 2021/2022 academic year online, adding that this year’s graduation ceremony will also be held virtually. LeNA
