MASERU – Minister of Communications, Science and Technology Chief Thesele ’Maseribane has been not fired, Prime Minister’s senior private secretary Thabo Thakalekoala has announced.

Thakalekoala shot down allegations of ’Maseribane’s sacking on national television on Monday, saying the claims were made by people who intend to destabilise the government.

’Maseribane is also the leader of Basotho National Party (BNP) which is part of the ruling coalition government led by Prime minister Motsoahae Thabane’s All Basotho Convention (ABC).

Thakalekoala further dismissed allegations that other BNP ministers such as Dr Nthabiseng Makoae, Chief Joang Molapo and Machesetsa Mofomobe had also been fired.

He said the only ministers who have been booted out of cabinet included defence minister Tefo Mapesela and his mining counterpart Keketso Sello.

Thakalekoala therefore appealed to Basotho to focus on overcoming the Coronavirus outbreak rather than on petty party politics which divide the nation.
