MOKHOTLONG – In a bid to curb the spiraling stock theft in Molikaliko, a new police satellite post has been opened to help crime prevention committees which are already on the ground fighting the crime.

Speaking on Thursday at the opening ceremony of the new police post, the Minister of Police ’Mamoipone Senauoane said the crime prevention committees play an integral part in helping the police to curb crime throughout the country.

She appealed to the committees to continue working hand in hand with the police to ensure the safety of their communities.

“The police satellite station is expected to serve all to prevent crime in various villages within the Senqu Constituency. Please report crime to the police for promotion of a safe and peaceful living,” Mrs Senauoane said.
Speaking at the same event, the Minister of Gender and Youth, Sports and Recreation, Ms Likeleli Tampane who is also a Member of Parliament for Senqu Constituency thanked Senauoane for agreeing to establish the new police post in that area.

The initiative she said is intended to provide the necessary police services closer to the communities.
Ms Tampane said stock theft is common and serious in both the Senqu and Khubelu valleys, hence the request for the establishment of the police satellite in that area.
