The minister told a press briefing earlier that day that Justice Sakoane has already been served with an appointment letter, adding what is left is for the former ACJ to officially hand over the reigns to her successor.
Prof Mahao applauded Chief Justice Sakoane for accepting such a huge responsibility, hopeful that he will work towards enhancing the judiciary services right from the local courts up to the High Court.
The government, he showed was not satisfied with the performance of the judiciary system which had been operating for quite a while without a substantive Chief Justice.
“The plan was to appoint people in substantive positions after the completion of National Reforms but as government we advised ourselves against that because we realised that we could not replace somebody acting with another one on acting position,” he explained.
