MASERU – Learners who will be sitting external examinations are expected back in class starting on Monday, the Minister of Education and Training Ntlhoi Motsamai has announced.

Motsamai said the arrangement involves pupils who will be sitting for the Lesotho General Certificate of Secondary Education (LGCSE), Advanced Subsidiary (AS), A' Level and International Baccalaureate (IB), as well as Primary and Lower Secondary checkpoints in independent schools and the latter which she said are rescheduled to reopen on September 7.
The minister said Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for such classes will be distributed from September 1- 25.

She said learners from all governments and church schools are expected back in class on October 6.
“The Ministry has arranged with the Examinations Council of Lesotho that all schools with learners in the LGCSE, AS, A Level and primary and lower secondary checkpoint to proceed with examinations as per the arrangement of the Cambridge Assessment,” she said.

She further showed that the Junior Certificate (JC) and LGCSE examinations shall be postponed until February and March 2021.

She added that LGCSE examinations will have another examination scheduled for later on for learners who feel unfit for this year's sitting.
Preparations are meanwhile underway for all other tertiary and vocational institutions to reopen.
