Taxi operators postpone nationwide strike
MRTO Spokesperson Lebohang Moea
The one-week nationwide industrial action which was supposed to end on October 21, has been postponed indefinitely.
According to the Maseru Region Taxi Operators (MRTO) Public Relations Officer, Lebohang Moea, they intend to give media practitioners a platform to engage operators from other districts after they realised from the press briefing that it was the government's word against the operators’.
They therefore decided to mobilise other districts, adding they will start from Leribe to Botha-Bothe on Tuesday then proceed to Mohale's Hoek and Quthing on Wednesday.
Mr Moea said they can only call off the mass action if the government addresses their grievances in respect of operations of the Mobile Court and the harassment they suffer at the hands of the court’s personnel.

Among others, the taxi operators complain that their drivers are arrested and hauled before the court without been given a chance to defend themselves or apply for bail.
The operators have since written to the Prime Minister giving him until Tuesday to attend to the matter.
They have also sent copies of that communication to the Ministers of Law and Justice and Transport.
