MASERU – A 35-year-old man from Sefikeng, Berea, was arrested on Sunday after whipping his 45-year-old lover to death for stealing two tomatoes.

-Police spokesperson, Superintendent Mpiti Mopeli, said the couple had attended a funeral when the incident happened.

“It appears that the woman was suspected to have stolen a measly two tomatoes, when the man found out about the alleged crime, he angrily whipped her to death,” Supt Mopeli told a media briefing yesterday. The suspect is still in police custody and will appear before court this week.
