THE ’Manthabiseng Convention Centre was abuzz with revelry on Saturday as Tiisetso Seliane was crowned Miss Lesotho 2021, beating 10 other beauties to claim the coveted title.

The crown automatically gives the 24-year-old National University of Lesotho (NUL) education student a chance to compete against some of the most beautiful ladies from across the globe at the next Miss World beauty pageant.

Seliane of Hlotse, Leribe who pocketed M10 000 at the competition has promised to make the best out of her shot at the Miss World crown.

“I have always known that life will lead me to a career that will put me in front of people. I enjoy the freedom to be myself, loving, caring, crazy and loud.”
Poelano Mothisi was crowned the first princess while Rapelang Ntsane is the second princess.
The Miss Lesotho beauty pageant which is an annual event was last year suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The National Director and Head Organiser of the event, Molulela Monyake expressed her profound gratitude at everyone who helped make the show a success.

“I honestly want to acknowledge the support we received. You are all appreciated and may you continue to be blessed,” she said.

In 2019, the Beauty Pageants Association of Lesotho (BPAL) handed over the Miss Lesotho franchise to the former model to host the competition going forward.

BPAL had opened to the public, the possibility to purchase the Miss Lesotho franchise. This meant that the successful candidate will be liable to organize the Miss Lesotho show and take over all the responsibilities of sending the winner to the Miss World pageant.

The Miss Lesotho beauty pageant was launched in 1978 and Joan Libuseng Khoali was crowned the first queen.

“The competition wasn’t run annually, hence, I cannot confirm which edition this is, but this is the maiden episode under my headship,” Monyake said.
Excited about the success of the show was the organising partner, Ryan Castillo Tantuan.
"Thank you Ms Mudu Monyake for partnering with us in this amazing journey. Thank you team, sponsors and for all the love and support for a successful Miss Lesotho 2021. Our next target is the Miss World competition," he said.
Tantuan told Metro that their partnership entails designing, marketing, organising accommodation, preparing venues and running other essential errands.
