MOHALE'S HOEK – After the 0-0 stalemate between Bantu and Majantja on Sunday, the chances of Bantu reclaiming the premiership title increased as title chasers, Lioli FC found themselves losing 1-0 to Lesotho Correctional Service(LCS) FC on Saturday. Bantu visited Mohale’s Hoek as runaway league leaders of the Econet Premier League (EPL) with 48 points, seven adrift second-placed Lioli.

But as things stand; the sharing of the spoils with Majantja has no negative effect on the Mafeteng-based outfit as they have a comfortable 49 points on top of the EPL with about three matches left. It is safe to bet on Bantu lifting the 2017/2018EPL championship. Now, Lioli can only rely on the arithmetical calculations to oust Bantu suppose the Teyayaneng-based team win all their remaining matches with the huge goal margins. Realistically, this looks like a mammoth task for the inconsistence-prone Lioli.
However, Bantu’s mentor, James Madidilane believes it is too early for his troops to engage in celebratory mode. Madidilane said the league is normally won during the last match, but he however does not deny that his team stands a better chance than any other team in the EPL to be crowned the champions, come the end of season.

“I am happy that we at least managed to come back with a point from Mohale’s Hoek. Drawing away at Majantja was not easy for us. They were more determined than us and we were lucky to earn a point,” Madidilane said. “I am sure my players have learned from the Majantja’s match and realised that what we must ignore the emotional temptation that we have already won the league. We must wait until the last game. “Look, we are left with very difficult matches. Yes, we only need two points out of our remaining fixtures; but truth be told, it will not be easy for us against the likes of LDF, LCS and Matlama. So, we will have to dig deep to make sure we reclaim the league.”

On the other hand; Lioli also have tough fixtures ahead in their quest to challenge Bantu for the premiership crown. The Morena Ramorebodi charges will have to go past the likes of LMPS and Sefotha-fotha before realizing their dream. Looking also at the bottom of table; the Maseru-based side, FC Likhopo find themselves in a difficult spot as the league concludes. Likhopo suffered a 2-1 beating in the hands of Sefotha-fotha FC on Saturday. The loss leaves Likhopo with a slim chance of avoiding the EPL playoffs at the end of the season. Also, going for playoffs does not guarantee their survival in the EPL as A Division sides - Lithabaneng FC and Ketane - will also fight hard for EPL promotion.
