PREMIER League giants Lioli have announced the return of their league winning mentor, Mosholu “Shoes” Mokhothu, following the passing on of their former head coach, Thomas Tshabalala earlier this year.

Mokhothu returns to Tse-Nala after a spell in charge of Manonyane FC.

He is one of the most successful coaches in the country with over five league titles during his time in charge of Lioli and also several spells working with LCS.

He led Lioli along with Halemakale Mahlaha when they ended their 23-year league drought during the 2008/09 season having last won the title in 1985.

Tse-Nala further announced that Vuyisane Mangaliso, who was appointed as the caretaker coach following Tshabalala’s death has stepped from the position and will make a return to South Africa.

“Lioli FC Board of Directors has appointed Mr Mosholu “Shoes” Mokhothu as the coach of the club for a period of two years. He is the most successful coach in the premier league with more league honours than any other coach. He brings a wealth of experience to the club,” Lioli said in a statement.

“Mr Mokhothu has previously served as the coach of the club and has won numerous cups with Lioli. We therefore congratulate him on his new appointment.

“This appointment means that Mr Vuyisane Mangaliso steps down and will proceed to his country South Africa. We wish him success in his future projects.”

On his part, Mokhothu said he is honoured to be given another chance to lead the Teyateyaneng giants and knows that the job comes with big responsibilities.

“Well, this job is like the others I took before and there is nothing special about my return to Lioli. However, it’s an honour for me that the leadership of the club saw it befitting to have me back and in charge of the club,” Mokhothu said.

“It shows that they still believe in my abilities as a coach and I’m humbled. If you follow my career as a coach, you will realise that it is always my target to make an impact and bring success to the clubs that I coach.

“Ambitions and mandates are always different from club to club, but I know that Lioli are a big team and expectations will be to take them to their glory days again. I know they want to be a force to be reckoned with again in Lesotho and I will work hard to ensure that the dream comes true,” he said.

The Teyateyaneng-based outfit last won the league championship during the 2014/15 season.
