Cycling challenge kicks off in high note
Excited participants agreed that this month’s event succeeded beyond their expectations as the number of riders increased compared to last month. Both males and females participated regardless of their age. One of the participants, Motsëlisi Tohlang aged 11 said: “I am happy to be part of this kind of event and I hope to reach to the top one day. I am happy to be the youngest among all the riders present here today. This is a motivation for me that I should keep on practicing.” Three riders made it to the finishing line and were showered with round of applause by spectators. One of them, Phetetso Monese, who won the race, has already participated outside the country at least three times in Cape Town taking part at Wines to Whales event where he obtained first position, each time competing with different contestants. Monese was in this race followed by Malefetsane Lesofe who also cycled internationally although he has not brought home anything yet but still hopeful that one day is one day.

Eric Ramohanoe is the youngest among the winners and managed to clinch third position According to Monese “It was not an easy race due to sloppy road and mud. But I am pleased with the position I got, and I am promising to keep the position in all of my races. It was very hectic because of the rain that had damaged the roads. I am fine even though I had a stiff challenge from my younger teammate because he is getting stronger each day. But I managed to beat him on the sprint finish.” Ramohomane said: “I broke my collar bone in Cape Town two weeks back. Friday was my first day of practice. I had difficulty in breathing. My legs were stiff, but I am happy I obtained third position.”
