MASERU - LeFA has announced that the FIFA COVID-19 relief fund that will be disbursed by the association is meant only for clubs that were active in the 2019/2020 season.

The association says teams which only registered with their respective DiFAs but failed to compete in the league for the 2019/2020 season will not be eligible for the financial aid.

In its written statement, LeFA says it is aware that there are some clubs which only registered with their respective DiFAs but did not play at all or some only played the first round matches and not the second ones.

"These clubs which did not play at all are not eligible for the relief funding and those that played the first round only will get half of what they would get had they played the first round and second round or portion of the second round at the time of the ending of the season," the statement reads.

LeFA further shows that there are people who are pretending to have registered their teams in the 2019/2020 season whereas they had not, adding that their plan is to unlawfully benefit from the relief funding.

Each premier league club will receive M80 000 while each A Division team will get M40 000. B and C Division clubs will each pocket M10 000 and M6 000 respectively. Teams had until August 30 to submit their applications.
