Senong’s charges at the bottom of their Group, but mathematically still within a chance of reaching the continental tournament, will also play Nigeria in Lagos on Tuesday.
Likuena’s camp has also been disrupted by injuries on key players with Jane Thabantšo and Lisema Lebokollane having been ruled out of the two matches due to injuries.
Lesia Thetsane and Thabiso Brown, who play their football in the United States of America and Bolivia respectively, have also failed to report for camp for reason related to traveling restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I think we will be playing a slightly different team. Their players have changed somewhere and their approach has also changed. They are not easy opponents and they did well in their last match playing a draw against Nigeria, but our main goal is to win the match at home against them,” Senong stated.
“Looking at the camp, the mood and sharpness of the players, I think we have a good chance of beating Sierra Leone at home. That’s our biggest goal. I know they are going to frustrate us, but it’s also our responsibility to make sure that we create problems for them.”
The Likuena mentor also thanked the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) for organising a bio bubble camp for the local based players, which started over a month ago.

“I must say, we were very fortunate to start early with the local based players because they had a long layoff after football activities were suspended in the country due to COVID-19,” the Likuena coach added.
“Starting early helped us a lot because we needed to bring the fitness levels of our players back, which we really did. The players are looking fit now, but of course playing and training are two different things. We also managed to play two practice matches against South Africa clubs and the long camp has helped to improve the relationship and understanding between the players,” he said.
