LESOTHO Football Association (LeFA) is mourning the death of a Third Division footballer who collapsed and died during the Regional 8 B Division match against his team Likuena FC and Khololikane FC over the weekend.

It is not yet known when the player, Lereko Makoae will be laid to rest.

In a press statement issued on Thursday, the national soccer governing body says on behalf of the football fraternity, its President, King’s Counsel Salemane Phafane would like to express his sincere condolences to the family of the late player, the Raboletse community and the football fraternity.

''We are gutted as the association to lose such a young talent with still so much to offer to his family and the beautiful game in the Mountain Kingdom,'' he said.

He added: ''Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they mourn their beloved son. May his Soul rest in Peace.''

For his part LeFA Media Officer, Mikia Kalati said only B Division Management Committee has already visited the family of the deceased player, adding that members of the Association's National Executive Committee are yet to visit the family.
Other footballers who died under similar circumstances in the past belonged to LMPS and Majantja. LeNA
