MOTEBANG Makhetha has quit his position as the head coach of high flying Kick4Life to replace departing Teboho Moloi as the new Linare coach.

Makhetha joined Kick4Life as their coach in December 2020 and leaves the club in eighth position in the Vodacom Premier League.

According to sources close to Linare, outgoing Moloi, had recommended the management of Tse-Tala to appoint the Berea born-Makhetha as his successor.

“After we announced in January the search for a new coach to replace Teboho Moloi, the management of Linare is pleased to announce the appointment of Motebang Makhetha as the new club coach,” Linare said in a statement.

“Makhetha is an experienced coach as he has coached several teams in the Lesotho Premier League such as Lioli and Kick4Life.”

Linare stated that Makhetha will oversee the team until the end of the season, but with an option to sign a two-year contract.

His first match in charge of Linare will be the Sunday’s Vodacom Premier League clash against Likhopo to be played at LCS Ground.

“Our new coach takes over the team with immediate effect and will oversee the upcoming league match against Likhopo to be played this Sunday at LCS Ground,” the club said.

Kick4life also announced in statement that the club has left his role as the head coach of the club after over a year in charge.

“The club and Mr Makhetha decided to end their working relationship on a mutual understanding. The management of the clubes wish to thank Mr Makhetha for his professional conduct and his efforts to guide the club into the right direction,” Kick4Life announced.

“Coach leaves with our sincere thanks for his efforts as the head of our technical staff and we wish him well for the future. First assistant coach Teboho Kokome and second assistant coach Molefi Katane will be in charge of the team in the meantime,” the statement said.

Linare, who are among the oldest teams in the country, are looking to bring the glory days back having gone over three decades without winning a major trophy in the country.
