MASERU- Out of possible six points from the last two league games, Matlama have only managed to collect a single point.

Tse Putsoa, as the team is affectionately known, played two games in the past week. Midweek they faced the new kids on the block, in Lijabatho FC and surprisingly the defending league champions were held to a one all draw.

Yesterday, the Sea-Point based outfit lost 1- 0 to a much tougher police side, LMPS. The Teele Nts’onyane led side has recently proven to be a real force to be reckoned with and given the so-called ‘bigger teams’ a run for their money.

In an amazing match that LMPS hosted at LCS Ground, the defending champions were way off their common display that helped them end their ten-year drought of the premiership title.

The police picked from where they left off in the second half. The first 15 minutes of the second half, Matlama’s defence was the busiest, but the police side failed to penetrate it once more.

Theletsane Makume almost levelled things, but Moerane Sekhoane rough-tackled him in the box. It resulted in a penalty. Players hesitate to take responsibility, but Moteloa Khemisi stood up.

Unfortunately, he missed the penalty and shot way off and high. This decision however, surprised Matlama’s head coach Charles Banda. This result ensured that they resign themselves to the third place and made way for Bantu on top of the log.  Their next game is against their arch rivals Bantu FC.
