Nkhasi takes over as Mehalalitoe mentor
The newly appointed Mehalalitoe coach Lehloenya Nkhasi
The announcement was made by the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) on Tuesday.
Nkhasi takes over the reins from Lire Phiri, who was in charge of the team from May 2019.
Moroesi Lazaro will work with Nkhasi as the assistant coach.
The new Mehalalitoe mentor has enjoyed a lot of success in the Women’s Super League leading LDF Ladies team to three successive championships.
Mehalalitoe commenced with their preparations for the regional competition last week and Nkhasi has named a strong squad headlined by American based duo of Boitumelo Rabale and Senate Letsie, who play for Lewis and Clark Community College.
Nkhasi admitted that he has a tough task ahead of him preparing Mehalalitoe for the upcoming COSAFA Women’s championship.
“It is an honour for me to be given such a big task to coach the women’s national team. I am truly happy and I also understand the responsibility that comes with it,” Nkhasi said.

He added: “Time may not be on our side as far as the preparations for the tournament are concerned, but that should not be an excuse. We have to prepare the players for the task ahead and make them understand what it means to play for the national team.
“I have selected a group of players that I think are hungry to succeed and also have the experience to do better than in the previous tournament. They have to understand the importance of donning the national team colours and representing their country.”
Lesotho will be making a return to regional tournament after missing last year’s edition held in Port Elizabeth.
