LIKUENA striker, Thabiso Brown’s stakes continue to grow in South America after the Mohale’s Hoek-born player last week joined Bolivian Premier League side, Aurora on a two-year contract.

The former Kick4Life marksman believes that his 13 goals in the recent promotional play-offs while in the books of Empress Minera Huanuni played a major part in helping him attract the attention of his new team.

Brown, who has been capped seven times for the senior national team, Likuena has been playing his football in South America for the past five years.

“Yes, I last week Thursday signed a two-year contract with Premier League side, Aurora in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to the new challenge ahead. The president of the club told me that they missed out on the Copa Sudamericana because of lack of goals.

“So, I’m really hoping to help with the goals and assist the team do well in the continental competitions such as the Copa Libertadores or Copa Sudamericana.”

The 26-year-old said he was worried not to have helped his previous team win promotion to the Bolivian Premier League but was happy with his own performance having finished second in the goal scoring charts with 13 goals.

Empress Minera Huanuni were knocked out in the quarterfinals and ended Brown’s hopes of getting more goals in the race for the golden boot.

“It would have been amazing to help the team win promotion especially after scoring 13 goals and getting a few assists as well. The player that won the golden boot is Adalid Aceitun with 14 goals,” Brown noted.

“I have now shifted my focus to the new club and the new season, which gets underway on February 6. I believe that the goals I scored during the playoffs helped me to go up the ladder and join this team playing topflight football.

“I need to maintain that form and get the goals because it’s my role as a striker. Strikers are judged on the number of goals they score.”

Brown also had a spell in Peru playing for Liga 2 side Pirata FC in 2020 before making a return to Bolivia to join Empress Minera Huanuni.

The forward who came to prominence while in the books of Sky Battalion, was part of the Likuena squad that played at the last year COSAFA Cup in South Africa.
