Members of Parliament for the ruling All Basotho Convention (ABC) have taken a swipe at their leader and Prime Minister Thomas Thabane for expelling members of the newly elected National Executive Committee. On the behalf of the other legislators, MP for the Berea constituency Motlatsi Maqelepo yesterday said the committee was legally elected by party members.

The new committee compromises deputy leader Professor Nqosa Mahao, secretary general Lebohang Hlaele chairperson Samuel Rapapa, spokesperson Montoeli Masoetsa and deputy spokesperson 'Matebatso Doti. “These are our leaders and we want them to actively reshape the image of the party in line with its constitution. We therefore urge Ntate Thabane to reinstate them before the end of three days,” Maqelepo said.

He said they are not convinced of the reasons put forth by Thabane for expelling the five. He said ABC is a leading party in the coalition government, hence, it should focus on building employment and economic policies that would take Lesotho out of poverty instead of focusing on its internal squabbles.
