NRA to hold security policy workshop
Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro
The training according to NRA’s Public Relations Manager, Motlatsi Nkhasi will be held at the ’Manthabiseng Convention Centre from Tuesday.
He said the objective of the workshop is to provide guidelines for effective security policy formulation and implementation.
It is also meant to increase the effectiveness of the security sector by optimising contributions from all security actors through a centralised policymaking process as well as build domestic consensus on security provision through the promotion of national dialogue and cooperation across different professional, public, political and sub-sector groups.
Mr Nkhasi said the workshop is part of the NRA’s mandate as spelt out under Section 8(1)(c) of the NRA Act.
The section states that one of the functions of the NRA is to propose and approve policy documents, draft bills and any legal instruments from the Chief Executive Officer, as may be necessary for national reforms in line with the resolutions and decisions of the 2019 Multi-stakeholder National Dialogue Plenary II Report.
The workshop which is expected to be officially opened by Prime Minister Dr Moeketsi Majoro will be attended by participants representing various stakeholder constituencies such as Principal Chiefs, relevant Government Ministries, Security Experts, Security Chiefs and Senior Officers, Private Security Representatives, Representatives of Community Policing Members, as well as national stakeholders including civil society, veterans, women’s organisations, academics, the disabled and youth organisations.
