MASERU - The 21-day national lockdown amid Coronavirus (COVID-19) is still expected to end on April 21, however the government is yet to decide on the extension after assessing the general situation surrounding the pandemic.

This is according to information from the National Emergency Command Centre (NECC) on Wednesday.
The statement issued by the centre shows that Prime Minister Motsoahae Thabane has declared a state of emergency from Wednesday to next week Tuesday in respect of the pandemic.

While Lesotho has not reported any positive COVID-19 cases to date, but like other countries, it has instituted a nationwide lockdown as a preparedness and control strategy for the pandemic.
Members of the state security agencies have been deployed across the country to among others monitor the situation and control illegal crossings from South Africa (SA) into Lesotho.
