LERIBE - The Minister of Communications, Science and Technology, Chief Thesele 'Maseribane, says in pursuit of the country's objective to combat high unemployment rate among the youth, the government will roll-out various programmes and developmental projects targeted at youth empowerment.

Chief 'Maseribane, who is also leader of Basotho National Party (BNP) was speaking on Sunday during a political rally his party had held in Pela-tšoeu, Leribe.
He said after projections of 2020/2021 fiscal budget, ministries will start presenting their financial requests in parliament.

He said government has decided to prioritise food security issues, support irrigation systems in order to mitigate the impacts of climate change, adding that through such projects, job creation will come into effect.
He showed that another issue included improvement of access to communication and internet even in remote areas by building more communications towers.

’Maseribane said it is only through access to technology that Lesotho can achieve development.
He said there are many skilled Basotho youths out there, highlighting the need for every individual to be in the forefront to establish and support poverty eradication projects to combat hunger.
He said BNP will always support agriculture whether the party is in government or not.

He showed that if poverty, hunger and unemployment rates keep on escalating, he will not rest but will apply more pressure to his working committees.
He said the party believes in democracy and brotherly love, but failure to grow that, can open doors and opportunities for foreigners to capture and rule the country.
He said no one is above the law, urging politicians to love the nation and always put people's interests first.

“BNP is the only political party that has led many developmental activities in the country but none is in existence as a result, it is high time to make people realise that we are living in times when everyone deserves access to different opportunities and improved services,” he said.
