THE National Assembly has adjourned for the next two weeks effective from Friday following a motion presented by the leader of the house and Deputy Prime Minister Mathibeli Mokhothu.

He said it was high time the MPs took a break from their daily business based on the calendar of the house.
Mr Mokhothu said after the fortnight interval, the MPs will return to the house for a special sitting that will specifically deal with the National Reforms Authority (LRA) regulations.

He said the government is due to report back to the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Summit in August.

He said during the short break, the MPs should go back to the electorate to get a new mandate as well as re-energise before returning to the house.

Thereafter, he said there will be no further breaks as the members still have to return to the house for parliamentary committee businesses.
“We also have the challenge of the COVID-19 with the third wave of the pandemic already reported in several countries. Therefore the members need to go and sensitise the public about safety protocols,” he said. LeNA
